Now | Contemporary 2023 Call for Entry


Submission Deadline: February 8, 2023


Synopsis: Art Room announces a call for entry for its Now | Contemporary 2023 show, juried by Caroline Frost, Assistant Director at Commerce Gallery in Lockhart, Texas, and contributing writer for Glasstire. This exhibition invites artists to submit compelling and contemporary artwork. All media—including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, drawings, sculpture in any medium, collage, printmaking, and photography—will be considered. The exhibition will be on display in the Program Gallery at Arts Fort Worth from March 3 through April 4, 2023.


2023 Juror Information: Caroline Frost graduated from Texas State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History. During undergrad, she curated the 2021 Alumni Show for Texas State Galleries titled States of Flux, which was also the subject of her undergraduate thesis essay. During her 5-month role as intermittent curator at Spellerberg Projects in Lockhart, TX she curated four solo shows: I’ll Tell You This for Free featuring Dana Robinson; Magic Shell featuring Hannah Lee; do i not fill heaven and earth featuring bradycollings; and Lyrical Space featuring Jamie Panzer. She is a frequent contributing writer for Glasstire and has served as Assistant Director at Commerce Gallery in Lockhart, TX since April 2021. 


Eligibility: Open to multigenerational makers. All media—including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, drawings, sculpture in any medium, collage, printmaking, photography—will be considered. Work must be no more than 60 inches in any direction, including the framing or mounting. The size given for works should be the framed size. Height must be given before width regardless of whether the work is a vertical or horizontal piece. The artwork may represent any subject matter. Accepted work must be suitably framed and ready for hanging. Works on paper must be framed under plexiglass or glass—plexiglass is preferred. Please respect these eligibility requirements. 


Fees: $30 for one to five images of artwork


Important dates:

  • Submission Deadline: February 8, 2023
  • Notification of Acceptance: Monday, February 13, 2023
  • Artwork Due to Arts Fort Worth: Monday, February 27, 2023
  • Opening Reception: Friday, March 3, 2023, 6:00–9:00 PM
  • Exhibition Dates: March 3 – April 1, 2023
  • Artwork Return: Sunday, April 2, 2023


Requirements: Please submit images with the following specifications:

  • 72 ppi

  • 800 pixels on the longest side

  • No borders around the image

  • JPEG file format


Label your image files with a corresponding entry number, your last name, and the title of the artwork—if it is a long title, you may use a keyword or abbreviation (i.e. 01Baker_Homeplace.jpg).


Please include the following with your entry: Title, Medium, Scale (h x w inches), Date, Price.

Art Room presents its annual juried exhibition Now | Contemporary 2022 at Arts Fort Worth, which features a compelling group of artworks in a variety of media. The exhibition showcases work by Paul Armstrong, Lane Banks, Kimberlea Bass, Carol Benson, Michael Burns, Randall Day, Hector Del Campo, Mckee Frazior, Sara Ishii, Katie McKay Jones, Carlos Ocando, Raul Rodriguez, Abbie Stellar, Kathleen Thum, Amye Wake, and Matthew Wood. The show runs from March 4 through 26, 2022.

You can tell a lot about Art Room’s character by the way they are helping change young creatives' lives. Through their workshops, programs, mentoring and much more, they are helping to cultivate the next generation of artists.
